Supporting Japanese American and Japanese citizens in Colorado since 1907

Who we are

お陰様で
Okagesamade
Thanks to you

お陰様で Okagesamade is originally a Buddhist term that reflects gratitude to those that have “sheltered” us. We are all supported and helped by people and things that are beyond what we can see.

  • お陰 The gods/others’ shelter/aide/shadow

  • 様 Honorific title

  • で By

To avoid rain or heat, we go under the shelter of a tree, but we don’t know the details on how the tree grew from seed to canopy. Nowadays, the phrase is used to thank others and to express gratitude.

Nikkeijin Kai of Colorado has survived and thrived since 1907 thanks to those that came before us and unsung heroes behind the scenes. Nikkeijin Kai hopes to be a shelter for future generations just like past generations have been a shelter to us. お陰様で。
